the story behind "let Love in"
The song "let Love in" was written June 1, 2020 after watching the civil unrest in Minneapolis the previous weekend. I began to ponder history and how positive change and positive movements start with a vision. When the vision is rooted and continues in Love, it accomplishes consistently positive transformation. When the vision isn't rooted in Love, the fruit of that vision is spiritual poison to the people it proposes to serve. If the vision begins in Love, but doesn't continue in Love, it becomes polluted and misses it's mark. When I saw what was happening in our country, the civil war in Liberia came to mind. While the war raged, one woman, Leymah Gbowee, had a dream in which she was told to gather the women of the church and pray for Peace. The documentary "Pray the Devil Back to Hell" tells her story ... and the story of a nation transformed by a group of women, Christian and Muslim, who unified in prayer and were so guided by Love, that they became the conduit for Peace in their war ravaged country. I started to write a post on Facebook that ended with "sometimes you have to kneel to heal". It was like a tuning fork in my own soul about what it takes for any of us to heal - individually, as a family, or as a nation. 2 days later the song "let Love in" showed up like a gift encouraging me to consistently seek to think and act in Love.
I share the song for whoever finds it and is encouraged by it's message. Kneeling in prayer with an aim set on Love will always be the better way.
I have uploaded a lyric version of the video in place of an image filled version due to the insidious nature of our political environment that led to misinterpretations of the purpose of the video. If you would like a copy of that video as a retrospetive on the summer of 2020, I am happy to send you a copy. Just ask.
May we let Love in until there is no more room for presumption, fear, and hate to win.
